Assorted pics

.

This past weekend Jack and I took a trip to Houston. This was Jack's second time on an airplane and probably the last for a while!! It's just hard for a rambunctious toddler to sit still that long and not kick the seat in front of him that's all! Anyway, Jack got to see his Aunt Jen and Uncle Brian, along with cousin Corinne. He wasn't too sure about her, especially when I dared to try and hold her (the nerve!).

Today is Jack's best friend Alyssa's 2nd birthday. We went to Chuck E Cheese's to celebrate b/c we missed her party over the weekend. The first picture is of Jack's reaction when we got into the place. He was so excited he did his happy dance (it's a sight!). His favorite activity was ski ball and he loved the toddler town slide. Notice his big boy tennis shoes. He's wearing a size 7 already, which is huge for a 17 month old. The shoes light up when he walks. He's so big. Sigh.....

Worn out

I've been running Jack hard lately b/c this little boy is bursting with energy. Here is the result of afternoon playgroup and playing in the backyard (and heat), followed by a bath. Jack has learned to climb the steps of his slide in the backyard and slide down on his own. I spotted him for the first 10 times before I just let him go...... I wanted to run upstairs to grab the camera but he was filthy and I wasn't sure what he'd do if left alone back there. Next time maybe I'll catch it!

Blueberries for breakfast

Jack loves him some blueberries, as the saying goes. I made him a blueberry waffle for breakfast and some of it ended up all on his face. But he gobbled it up so that's the most important thing! Also, here is a picture of Jack in the morning when I went to get him. He throws everything out of his crib when he wakes up and then tries desperately to get them back. He's a certified mess.

I'm gonna get you!

Dave's cousin Paige traveled into town tonight and stopped by for a visit. Jack acted coy most of the visit but did spend some quality time with her playing trains together. He even graced her with a "high-five" when she left! We like to play chase and here Jack is trying to "catch" me :) Note all of the molars and canines that are popping through his gums!!

Beating the heat

It's been hotter than hot here lately so I've been beating the heat indoors. I can tell that Jack gets stir crazy in the afternoons when it's still too hot to go outside. We've been going on afternoon trips around Mandeville to stay sane. Here he is enjoying a milkshake at the local 50's restaurant. He loves to spin the stools and dance to the jukebox music. We also stopped at Barnes & Nobles to play with the Thomas set there. Jack managed to jump on stage in the reading area and run around there. He's a born performer :) There's no denying that he's a live wire!!!!!!

Toys! Toys! Toys!

We made the mistake of making a family trip to Toys R Us Sunday...... Dave and I had never really been there much, even as kids, so we weren't prepared for all of the cool toys! I think we had more fun that Jack did :) We got some more track for his Thomas set and decided to glue it to the table. He has a penchant for taking it all apart and wandering the house with the track. Here is what we've decided the table will look like for the near future. We also got Jack a mop and broom set b/c he has turned into Mom's little helper recently. He's always been great at shutting doors for us but now this newfound interest in keeping the floors clean will really come in handy!!

Also, Kung Fu Fighting Hampster has made a reappearance at Jack's highchair. I was cleaning out my old work stuff and stumbled upon him. Jack loves him and insists that they eat together ;) See, don't they have the best time??

I wear my sunglasses on my terms

Jack discovered this pair of sunglasses in his toy box today. He kept struggling to put them on so I took the liberty of doing it for him. He wore them and was all smiles! I then tried with a real pair of sunglasses and it ended with him crying and pulling them off. Oh well........

Having fun

Jack and Aidan have become buddies. Jack is enjoying playing with all of Aidan's toys..... the walker, swing, kick n' play and activity mat. The boys get restless in the late afternoon and want to go outside. We figured letting them play in the pool would be a surefire way to wear them out. It worked like a charm. Jack got a little too tired though and threw a fit when mommy took away the grapes. We head home tomorrow and will miss Aunt Lauren and baby Aidan.

KD playdate

Today Jack played with so many new friends! There were two sets of twins and lots of toys. The kids had a blast together and fighting was minimal ;) It was fun hanging out with all of my old sorority friends and their kids. Stephanie and her daughter Camille were sweet enough to make crowns for everyone to wear. Jack only wore his when he passed out in the car on the ride home. Everyone else loved theirs though. Baby Aidan took it all in and even caught some zzzz's amidst the noise. Thanks for hosting us Brandy!

The big D

We're in Dallas visiting my friend Lauren and her son Aidan. Jack took his first trip in an airplane and was a champ!!! He didn't make a peep the whole time and loved looking out of the window. He's had a bit of a jealous streak though...... screaming whenever I try to hold Aidan. Here are some pics from the weekend, and we took a video of him playing with a giant excercise ball at Lauren's house.....Watch it here

Blueberries and Thomas

Jack has become very sneaky..... hiding his sippy cups for mommy to find days later. Nasty!! I've become tired of cleaning out the spouts when the milk goes bad so I switched to the Take and Toss cups. That way if they get too funky it's off to the trash. He likes them b/c they have Thomas "choo-choo" on them. We're also learning body parts right now so here he is showing me his head. He can give high fives too!! We got another hair cut today too. Jack just couldn't meet all of his Dallas friends with shaggy hair. He initially freaked out and screamed, but was good as gold as his hair was cut (we had to take off his shirt b/c there was hair everywhere. Not exactly sure of the cape yet). That's all that matters! More updates from Dallas to follow. Wish us luck on the airplane tomorrow!!!!

Barney's biggest fan

Jack LOVES Barney! He's never been much of a tv watcher. Baby Einstein was lost on him. Somehow Barney stole his heart though b/c Jack asks for "B" all the time. We got him his own chair so he doesn't have to climb our furniture to watch B.
