Jelly bellys

I got Dave some jelly bellys for an early birthday treat this week. Jack discovered that he too liked jelly bellys. Guess I know what to ask the Easter Bunny for in a month.....

Mr. T starter kit

Today was Mardi Gras and we met up with some friends for a local parade. Yes, Jack is in the same shirt that he's worn for all of the parades. Gotta get use out of a shirt that has 2/3 of the mardi gras colors! Anyway, he's never really gotten into wearing many beads before. He usually takes them off and flings them on the ground....... but not today. I think he's channeling Mr. T in some of the pictures b/c he put as many beads around his neck as he could fit. He was picking them off of the ground in fact. Here he is with his friends Alyssa, Anna Jayne and Dean. He's also pictured with Ms. T (Alyssa's mom).

Jack and William

While we were in BR we met up with Bitsy's next door neighbor Jill and her son William. There is a great park within walking distance from the house and Jack loves to go there. The boys had so much fun together and mainly followed each other around or ran off. I don't think they spoke a word to each other....... but they are boys and they were outside! :)

Mmmm, grapefruit

Jack must be trying to watch his figure these days as evidenced by his newest breakfast choice- grapefruit! He loved it and would take some from whomever was eating it!! He's a picky toddler at times but our rule of thumb is that Jack will eat anything as long as it comes from someone else's plate!

Spanish Town parade

We took Jack to BR this weekend for the Spanish Town parade. It has really grown over the past several years and is always funny to watch (individual groups make their own floats with wacky themes). Jack's great aunt and uncle (Debbie and Dane) got a primo spot right on the parade route for us the morning of the parade. Jack enjoyed the music and the floats, liked the beads ok, but really did not enjoy being pelted by the beads or stuffed animals from time to time. Kids are bead magnets, what can I say!

You'll notice that Jack is bundled up like an eskimo in the first couple of pictures and then the layers of clothes gradually shed down to just his shirt. The day started freezing and warmed up nicely as the cloud cover broke up. He ate the whole entire day- enjoying cotton candy for the first time and eating a Moon Pie (a Mardi Gras tradition!!). All in all, Jack made out like a bandit and fell asleep as soon as we buckled him in his carseat.

Jack's big news!

Jack has been keeping a big secret for several weeks now.......... he's going to be a big brother! He got to see the "baaaybbbeee" as he says this morning and all looks well. I'll be having a repeat c-section on Sept. 4th, the day after Labor Day (how appropriate!). We are not finding out the sex of this baby, so we'll all find out together in September. Sorry the pictures aren't so clear, but you can make out the legs of the baby on the right-side picture. This baby takes after Jack already b/c it was kicking like crazy.

The mystic krewe of Barkus

We made a trip into New Orleans this afternoon to catch a parade made up of dogs today, hence the name of the krewe. We decorated Jack's stroller with Mardi Gras colors. Most of Dave's cousins were there (2 have recently moved back to New Orleans). Jack got to see his cousins from Memphis, Ryley and Caroline, again. Talk about 3 tired kids! Ryley racked up on beads. Jack was handed several but enjoyed dropping them on the ground more than wearing them I guess. Everyone had fun and enjoyed seeing all of the costumes- both human and canine! Jack passed out on the ride home........ isn't he sweet when he's sleeping??

Mimi's visit

Mimi made a quick visit to see Jack this past weekend. They had so much fun together. She got in lots of quality snuggling! Dave and Mimi took Jack to the park, ate cheese dip together, and then tried to cut his hair. He didn't take well to sneaking in a haircut and Dave had to resort to following him around the backyard with scissors....... his hair is more trim now. I'll let y'all be the judge!

Jack's necklace

Jack's Mimi gave him some snap beads for Christmas and he loves to connect them into a giant necklace! When he had had enough, into the bucket they went. Notice the long hair Jack is sporting these days. I've tried to get it cut and Jack has NOT cooperated. So I'm going to shave his head soon....... wish me luck.
