Metamorphasis

Well, the crib is gone (moved one room over to the nursery) and the big boy bed is in! I put Cars sheets on the bed and Jack took a nap today with no issue. He loves to use the step stool to climb into his bed and lay on it. I must admit that it's strange to see the crib in what we affectionately call "Jill's" room and the twin bed in Jack's room. Oh how my little man has grown up!!

Audubon Zoo

We went to the New Orleans zoo today with a friend from playgroup and her son. I've never been to the zoo here even though I've lived here 8 years now. Crazy! Guess I never had much a reason to go pre-Jack.
Jack really enjoyed seeing the animals but for some reason he wouldn't let me pick him up to get a better view. Maybe he was afraid that I was going to toss him into their habitat? Gotta love 2 year olds. I got him some traditional New Orleans taffy called Roman candy and he sucked on it the whole time we were there. He called it ice cream......... which it was most definitely not......
Thanks to Jen and Dean for being such a great tour guides. We had a great time and Jack crashed as soon as we got home!

LSU blanket

Here is the soft and cuddly blanket that my friend Carrie made for Jack and the baby. They will be so cute with their matching blankets one day :) Jack loves his and insists on sleeping under it for naps and night-time. He's never stayed under a blanket his whole life! Thanks Carrie!

CRS

This is for you AJ............ cinnamon roll steeeeeeaaalllller. I must say he was a little unsure of the rolls at first, but once the sweet icing hit his lips he was sold!!! I even let him pretend dip the empty icing container :)

Holy Bedhead

Jack's hair growth rate astounds me. The boy had his head shaved clean nearly 2 months ago...... and look at it now upon waking up from a nap. He did NOT appeciate me snapping pictures of him either. If he weren't so uncooperative with haircuts I would never have let it get this bad again. *sigh*

First night in bed

Here Jack is, sleeping with his butt in the air, at 7:15 am this morning. We went in to make sure he wasn't passed out on the floor or something, but he slept successfully in his crib all night. Never fell out, and we never even heard a peep. We unlocked the door once he fell asleep just in case he wanted to come downstairs in the morning. Maybe tomorrow!

Bye bye crib

The days of staying in the crib are over (oh that picture of Jack in his crib melt my heart). Jack crawled out for the first time today and there was no more keeping him contained (he did it 3 more times with Dave and I watching with dropped jaws). We took the rail to the crib down and will switch him to the twin bed this weekend. We had to switch the locks on his door to lock on the outside b/c he would not stay put (of course!). Eventually he gave it up and fell asleep in his bed. I always knew this day would come, but now that it has I still can't believe it.

What Mommy??

Jack loves, loves, loves to put his shoes on himself. Nevermind that he puts them on the wrong feet more often than not. I've taught him that our big toes "kiss" and so do the insides of the shoes, but he'll still mix them and it cracks me up. I love how easy Crocs are for him to slip on and off. Good thing since we're always having to take them off and put them on the correct feet!

More brownie pictures

My mom sent me this picture of Jack licking the spoon from the previous post. It only got messier from here.........

Chef Jack

While we were at Mimi's house over Easter, she and Jack decided to make brownies. Jack was a very good helper (as you can see) and was rewarded by licking the spoon. As you can imagine, that quickly got very messy and we ended up filming the rest. Here are some pictures of a clean Jack though!

Easter pics

We traveled to Houston for Easter to spend it with Mimi and Popa. While we were there we visited with Uncle Bill and Aunt Sonja, Mama, cousin Cody, and Aunt Jen, Uncle Brian and cousin Corinne. Of course my camera battery was low and I only snapped these pictures. We mainly took video while we were there. He is pictured beside his Popa's horsey and he bounced on it like a pro. We're secretly glad that horsey stays at Popa's house b/c we think Jack would get pretty adventurous on it at home!

Jack looked so precious in his Easter outfit (which I smartly bought weeks ago in long pants!). He ate so many jelly beans that I fear he may turn into one soon. Jack loved hunting eggs with Corinne (when he let her get one that is) and knew exactly how to open the eggs to get out any candy hiding inside.

We had a great time seeing everyone and Jack loved every second of his time with Mimi and Popa.

"Sassa"

Took me forever to figure this Jackism out....... he's actually saying pizza. Just can't quite swing the "p" in that word I guess. Here he is wolfing down some pizza after a long day of Easter egg hunting.

Mr. Locksmith

Jack's Uncle Miller sent him the neatest toy for his birthday. It has all sorts of locks and holes with different shapes to sort. He loves it of course. What he seemed to like even more than the toy was attacking his father as he tried to capture him playing with the toy!!!
